Today I got the privilege to present a talk to the students of Walkerton Elementary School. It is always an honor to speak to children, but this group was even more special to me, because this is the grade school I attended many years ago. It felt really good to be able to give back to the school that laid the groundwork for my education. I even got to see some of my old teachers.
I gave a talk by webcam along the same lines as my post “I can’t!” They are in the midst of preparing for their state sanctioned standardized tests, and I thought this theme would be great for their confidence. They were a good audience, and it seemed like my message hit home with a lot of them. I hope so at least. I know that the principal plans to use my theme as a rallying cry during the testing, which I think is pretty cool. I wish all of them luck and hope that my words can help them in all of their pursuits from here on.
I have included a short portion of my talk so that you can get a feel for my speaking style.
